Our Impact

Where are we and where do we need to be?

Our Impact

We hear this a lot:
"But have they said the one specific thing I'm waiting to hear?"
I get it. We all want candidates who align with our priorities and speak directly to the issues we care most about. But in a general election, we have to zoom out and look at the bigger picture. The choice isn't between perfect and imperfect. It's between two very different visions for Indiana and the people who will actually shape our state's future.
One of the best pieces of political advice I've heard from organizers at Indivisible is simple:
Vote with your heart in the primary. Vote with your head in the general.
In the primary, you fight for your ideal candidate. You push for bold ideas, demand commitments, and support the person who best reflects your values. That's the time to advocate for exactly what you want to see.
In the general election, the stakes are different. You're no longer choosing between small policy differences within the same party. You're choosing who will be making decisions that affect our communities, our rights, and our future.
Holding back support because a candidate hasn't checked every single box doesn't move the needle in a more progressive direction. It doesn't bring us closer to the change we want to see. It only makes it easier for those who oppose our values to win.
The reality is that progress is built on effective progress that comes from building broad alliances around shared goals, not from insisting on complete agreement.
If we want to move Indiana forward, we have to focus on what is at stake and unite around our shared goals.
In the primary, we vote for our ideals.
In the general, we vote to protect our communities, move our values forward, and elect leaders who will make that progress possible.
Let's keep our eyes on what's truly on the ballot, support our candidates, and do everything we can to get out the vote this November.
